“Amalgamation”
Charcoal, Gesso, and Ink on Paper
18 × 24
“A being that is constantly changing and growing, finding new people to infect and join with, losing itself the more it encounters them. I struggle to find a place to fit in most times, whether it's because of my identity, how I look, or just due to my own low self-worth; I never feel like I fit in anywhere. I resort to taking personality traits and qualities from other people I meet and merging them into my own in an attempt to fit in and desperately make people like me. In the process of this, I’m slowly destroying myself and losing anything that makes me, me. Instead of me, I am the amalgamation of those I come into contact with, slowly destroying myself.”
